Located in the hip and friendly downtown of Northampton, MA,
Pride & Joy has been an integral part of this community since 1992.

 

We offer a unique collection of books, music, movies, gifts,
adult toys, clothing, jewelry, and more for the Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual and Transgender (and Allied) communities.

Pride & Joy carries the largest collection in New England of LGBT movies for rent, including a growing selection of adult films. We also carry a wide range of CD’s from local and national recording artists. You will find buttons, stickers and magnets that will allow you to express your pride in being part of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, S/M, Bear and/or Allied communities.

We are also proud to serve the Peace community by carrying buttons, stickers,
flags and T Shirts that express our strong desire for world peace.

Pride & Joy serves as a community resource center, offering free brochures
for local groups, newspapers, and postings for upcoming events. We maintain
a “housing book” as well as a “business directory” full of cards of local GLBT
businesses and professionals. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy
to answer your questions on the local nightlife scene and make recommendations
for restaurants and local accommodations.

www.northamptonpride.org Northampton Pride happens in early May every year. We have one of the earliest pride day festivities in the country, and its a great "kick start" to the pride season. In 2004, over 10,000 people attended the day long event! As a non-profit, volunteer run organization, Northampton Pride is always in need of donations and volunteers. Please visit this site and consider getting involved in this great event.

www.transpridemarch.org The first New England Transgender Pride March and Rally will be held on June 7, 2008 in Northampton, MA. The event is organized by members of the trans and gender variant community, and their allies, with the intent of taking a visible and positive stand for transgender rights. The March and Rally is dedicated to diverse representation among organizers and participants. We seek to educate and build awareness of the movement against gender-based discrimination. We promote self-acceptance and acceptance of our whole identities and lives. We gather to celebrate and affirm our individuality, diversity, and strength.

The Rainbow Times - Launched in early 2007, TRT is the new voice for the LGBT community in Western Massachusetts. The paper comes out twice a month and is available at over 150 distribution points, including here at Pride & Joy! You can also receiver TRT at your home by subscription. www.lifecourse.net LifeCourse Counseling Center was established in 1980 to provide LGB people counseling, psychotherapy, consultation and education throughout the Pioneer Valley of Western Mass, Connecticut, and Southern Vermont. The now also serve the transgender and gender-queer communities as well.

Directions to Our Store

The main intersection in Northampton is the intersection of Main Street (Rt.9) and Pleasant Street (Rt.5).
From here, go west on Main Street, towards Smith College, about 2 blocks. Main Street will bend to the right,
and City Hall will be on your left. Here, turn left onto Crafts Avenue, which is a one-way street going down a
small hill, right next to City Hall. Pride & Joy is half way down this block, on the left, #20 Crafts Avenue.

Northampton Pride March and Rally
Saturday, May 3, 12-5pm, downtown Northampton


The 27th annual Pride march and rally will kick off from the Bridge Street School on Rt.9, head down Main Street, down Crafts Ave in front of Pride & Joy, then curl back to the parking lot behind Thornes Market. The festival begins at 1pm and last til about 5pm. This event has grown every year and is a true "indicator of Spring" in the valley.

This year's line up will include Emcee, Suzan Ambrose, host of The Naked Truth radio show on Valley Free Radio, guest appearance by Rachel Maddow of "The Rachel Maddow Show" on Air America radio, and headliner by singer/songwriter Brian Kent. The rest of the line up can be found on the Pride web site - www.nohopride.org. Also on the web site, you can sign up to VOLUNTEER at Pride and get one of those great T Shirts, and you can register your contingent in the parade.
